Location
The Southside Suite is conveniently located, being 1.4 miles from Exit 8 of I-64, and 1.4 miles from downtown. Marshall’s campus is only 2.2 miles away, so you can be at the majority of all Marshall sporting events in Huntington in less than 10 minutes. The Southside is a quiet residential neighborhood with walking paths and parks, tree-lined streets, and friendly neighbors walking dogs or enjoying the day on their front porches. The walking path connecting a few of the major parks is less than 500 feet away from the doors of the apartment, so anyone looking for a leisurely stroll or a blood pumping run can enjoy it without the need to drive anywhere. The Outdoors Area
The unit shares a yard with the main house that can be used during reasonable hours. The yard is fenced in with a privacy fence with plenty of solar lighting at night. The large paver patio (24′ x 10′) has plenty of seating that is covered by waterproof covers and there is a Blackstone Griddle on one end. Sit on the patio at night to take in the quiet and relaxing Southside. There are two exterior doors, both of which lead to the yard.
The Living Room
The living room is on the ground floor between the two entry doors. There is plenty of room to gather with a three-person couch; two-person loveseat; and an oversized swivel chair. There is a mounted bar table that folds up for use or down for out of the way with four barstools. The 50″ 4K LED Smart TV is pre-loaded with many apps for your viewing pleasure, or log into your own. Free 1GB fiber internet is available throughout the apartment and yard. There is a half bath (toilet and sink) between the living room and kitchen for your convenience. A buffet that holds serve ware and other items has a Keurig coffee pot that works for both single pod and full pot options.
Kitchen
Part of the allure of not being in a hotel is having a full kitchen to cook, snack, or keep all your stuff cool in a full refrigerator. Our kitchen is fully furnished with GE Slate appliances. The oven and range combo has a convection setting if you like, and the over-the-range microwave has exhaust fan options. The sink faucet is detachable with a hose for easier rinsing or filling large pots or tubs. There are plenty of plates, bowls, knives, utensils, cookware, and even kid-friendly items.
Bedroom One
Located on the second floor, this 12′ x 11′ bedroom has an additional alcove that has one of the dressers in the room. There is a large double closet with sliding doors and a storage shelf. The queen-size bed is very comfortable with a memory foam topper on the mattress. Unwind and watch our apps or yours on the 50″ 4K LED Smart TV that is connected to the free 1GB fiber internet throughout the apartment and yard. Windows in this room are on two walls, overlooking the shared yard and the alleyway/driveway.
Bedroom Two
The other bedroom is also on the second floor and has the same queen-size bed with memory foam and 50″ 4K LED Smart TV with apps in a 12′ x 11′ footprint. The closet has lots of tiered storage to keep your stuff out of the way. Windows in this room overlook the shared yard.
Main Bathroom
The full bathroom upstairs had a complete remodel in spring 2024 and features a luxurious tile shower behind thick glass. The oversized showerhead may be what you use at all times or you can divert the water to the wand attached to the wall. There are plenty of ledges and shelves in the shower to hold your bath items. A block glass window allows terrific natural light while maintaining full privacy. The space is maximized with a locking pocket door and an in-wall shelf. Additional storage is in the cabinet below the floating sink where we provide a hair dryer.
Laundry/Utility Room
If you spilled something on your favorite shirt or if you just want to pack light and wash your clothes to wear on your trip home, our oversized laundry room has you covered. There is plenty of storage in the cabinetry and the countertops make great folding areas. We provide the laundry detergent and fabric softener sheets, and all of our towels and linens are washed in non-allergenic cleaners with your comfort in mind.
